A Love Of Reading

From the time my children were babies, I read to them. I wanted to instill in them a love for reading. When my 4th grader learned to read, she was 5;she could not put a book down. She loves it! Finally my 1st grader loves to read. We have been reading through Dick and Jane. She Loves It! My 4 year old boy loves to be read to:) Hopefully he will love reading just as much as his sisters do:)

My favorite teaching supplies!

I have a few favorite teaching supplies, as I am sure you do to!

1. Post it tabs
2.Sharpies
3. 3x5 cards
I love the Post it tabs! They come in handy when marking my 4th graders wok for the next day. Sharpie markers are my favorite! What teacher doesn't like sharpies! 3x5 card are used for making flashcards, name tags, or for Bible verses.

What are your favorite teaching supplies?

A View Into Our Day!

My day normally starts about 6:30 am. I make sure my hubby has what he needs for work and get my wonderful cup of coffee and curl up under a blanket and have my time alone with God.
By 7:00, I get my kids up, have devotions with them, and they eat breakfast.
We start school by 8:30. My children are in grades 3rd, K5, and Preschool.
I use the ABeka curriculum for K5. After kindergarten we use the Landmark curriculum from 1st grade on up.
We use the Road Trip USA curriculum byconfessionsofahomeschooler.com. My kids love it! confessionsofahomeschooler.com has many free downloads and printables. Her downloads are very reasonably priced.
Between 11:30 and 12:00 the kiddos eat lunch. After lunch is story time, then nap time.
When the younger 2 are napping, I try and spend that time with my 3rd grader going over things with her. She'll help me with dishes laundry, etc.
After nap time we do science, and get ready for my wonderful husband to get home from work.
I hope that gives you a small view into our day. I live homeschooling my kiddos and wouldn't want it any other way.
